A company in Israel is promoting the fact that they rank in the top 10 for Israel SEO. Now if I ran a search marketing firm (I DO) I would rather find more competitive words to rank for and say that is my greatest merit. Well actually I would focus on what I have done for my client not what I have done for myself. When I get a sales call or someone pitches me a service I don’t care how great the company is, I want to know what they have done to make their clients great.
Also a note to Israel SEO company you should learn that 1995 is over and search engine submissions don’t mean anything. In a few years I hope this company doesn’t start teaching people to use meta tags.
So the first thing is focus on the client, second focus on real SEO.
As a side note how many searches a month are done for Israel SEO.

Although there are not that many searches for Israel SEO, it is still a good keyword for SEO companies located in Israel. The SEO Israel searcher is further down the sales cycle than the SEO searcher. Therefore it is an important keyword phrase for local companies even though it may be relatively easy to rank on the home page for this term.

That being said. If 70 searches a month are being made for Israel SEO what are the chances it will bring in real business. Looking at many of these sites the onpage off page seems to be skewed. Israeli SEOs think that on page factors are what makes a difference and haven’t embraced Googles love of links.
My bigger issue with the company I was commenting on (it’s not yours) was not making results they have achieved for their clients. It seems that the business model is saying I am so great look where I rank when all a potential client cares about is where will you take my site.

Israel SEO is good. “Israel Internet marketing” is even better!

Interesting.
A small post, which poses an interesting debate over a position, creates its own position for the term discussed.
Important phrase or not – you’ve done your Job Mayer, and might I add I do not think it’s spam else none of us would discuss itlike that.
That being said, I just met a guy last week, who hired a firm which apeears on the top 10 for “search engine optimization” at Google.com and they took 2.5 years and lots of money to bring him Zero results, Zero sales – and looking at his website – horrible work quality.
Also I think we all know who Mayer is talking about. Last I heard from a client of mine, this guy is cold calling my clients claiming he tought me everything I know LOL.

I am with you on the second part of your comment about rankings. If a keyword will not bring in real traffic what’s the point. When pitching a client I say the same thing, if it doesn’t translate to sales or quality branding WHO CARES. The problem is that many companies focus on what I call ego SEO. Keywords that may look good but doing get searched. I am for EGO but against ego SEO.
With regards to the last point, I try doing this when a company likes to post a client list on their site. Since I focus mostly on the US market I have yet to do this to you. My recommendation is always keep your client list closed so that your competition has no way to follow you and try to snatch your kingdom. An interesting side point is that I have had clients that have left us after some time when they got great rankngs and hired someone in house. That person started building links everywhere we did even for non relevant sites. I am looking forward to their rankings dipping or getting banned so they can come back and I can charge triple the price.
